Most of the women of the Warrior StoryField had little or no welding experience. They started by brazing and shaping butterflies then moved on to making the fiery tail feathers of the Phoenix. They have learned so much so fast they are now deep into creating both the wings and the tail feathers of the Phoenix.
As they explore their unique expressions of the wing and tail feathers, they infuse their own stories of what it takes to come home from war into the sculptures. They have a lot to say, and what they’re saying has a powerful impact on our art and in our community.
